Why learn with LRDG?

LRDG is the leading e-learning training service provider for the Government of Canada. We provide unrivalled language instruction with a unique and active educational approach.

Individual training

In contrast to traditional classroom training, LRDG provides exclusive one-on-one training with a tutor. Instead of trying to meet the diverse needs of an entire classroom of learners, our tutors adapt the language training to your individual strengths and weaknesses.

Take a lesson from anywhere

No more rushing to class over a stressful commute. Tutor sessions can be done anywhere with Skype, WebEx, over-the-phone or other virtual communication tools.

Start your program at any time

No need to wait for the beginning of a semester! Our learners can jump into their program at any point during the year. Once learners have been assessed they can start their program in as little as 24 hours.

Learn at your own pace

Our program is flexible and tailored to each individual. This allows learners to work through the modules at their own pace.

Flexible scheduling

We understand that life gets busy and your schedule may fluctuate. For those hectic weeks, our learners are welcome to reschedule individual tutoring sessions at their convenience. Learners are always in control of their training.

Never miss out on classroom-based linguistic theory

Our learners have 24/7 access to online learning materials through the web portal -- even during busy weeks when it may be necessary to reschedule a tutoring session.

Continuous monitoring and evaluation

Progress reports are an integral part of our learning process. Being aware of our learners' needs allows learning to progress as efficiently as possible. Reports are available 24/7 on our online portal.

LRDG offers a variety of programs that are designed to accommodate your needs and skill level. Each program offers you an e-learning component paired with tutor support.

Full-time training program

LRDG's full-time program is the most cost-effective, result-oriented and intensive ESL and FSL training  program that we offer. The program material is laid out at an accelerated pace with pre-established deadlines. After completing the program, learners will be able to use French or English effectively in both personal and professional settings.

The LRDG full-time program consists of 15 hours of tutor-led training and 22.5 hours of module-based self-study per week. A typical module can be completed in 2-4 weeks, depending on content scope and module proficiency level.

Learners are given a consolidation period after every 3 modules to help anchor language acquisition & avoid learning plateaus. Once learners have completed all of the required modules as identified in their learning plan, they will finish their language training with 6 weeks of SLE preparation in order to ensure success during their PSC tests. Due to the rigorous demands of the full-time program, an additional follow up session is given every second week by the LRDG pedagogical team to ensure that learners are on track. These 30 minute sessions allow our pedagogical team to identify and provide solutions for any language acquisition problems and address any concerns the learners may have. If a learner is experiencing any problems, a remediation strategy is implemented immediately.

Furthermore, once a learner has completed the modules pertaining to the government B and C proficiency levels, they will take an SLE simulation test. This ensures proper language knowledge acquisition and prepares learners for their PSC tests.

This prescribed and proven approach of daily module-based self-study and tutor sessions has been carefully devised by our pedagogical linguistic experts. LRDG also provides learners with a high degree of flexibility to ensure success. Learners can tailor their training schedule in agreement with their regular work schedule. The full-time program has a 90% success rate, and achieves this high threshold due to our unique blended-methodology of self-study and personalized tutoring. In our full-time program, a true beginner can achieve their CBC proficiency level in less than 15 months, provided they follow the LRDG prescribed methodology.
